In honor of Lola finally updating, I decided to update myself. Things have been moving quickly and slowly all at the same time. I'm in Hayward now, pettsitting, and, I guess, husband sitting as well. Don isn't working, yet. He keeps talking like something is going to turn up soon, and, to be fair, he is taking some big, hairy, all day interview with the Nevada Supreme Court later this month. He also did a test last week for some kind of state auditor job. Yep, he's giving up on private practice for a while, and focusing on the government career track. Probably good for him, all things considered.
Meanwhile, I was having lots of trouble sleeping, which doesn't help when one is off in Seattle training for a new writing series. I should be grateful that I have such a long summer now, (Don't start until the end of the month, whereas, my old school went back yesterday.) but it is almost like it is just more time for the strom cloud to brew. Big fat thunder heads piling up. I know it is mostly the threat of grad school looming that is setting me off. I've built it up to be such a challenge, I should just decide to relax. Oh yeah, I got in. Got the letter weeks ago. I need to sign up for my first class, which is probably full, the one I want that is, because I kept putting off signing up. I'm such a wus.
So out of sorts these days. Lots of big changes, and therefore I'm doing my best to stay as still as possible. I read a new book the other day, and the author was describing her inertia as, "It's like I'm standing downwind of someone else's pot smoke. I'm not smoking it, but I'm not moving either." That's exactly how I feel.
I'm here till Friday morning, then it's back to Reno. Thank God, I can finally unpack, as this will be the last trip anywhere for a while. Been living out of my suitcase all summer! The parents are arriving for Hot August Nights, giant, stupid car show in Reno that has had my Pop salivating for months. Will be fun to show them around; they have never been to Reno before. Don's even taking Pop fishing on Lake Tahoe, which is sweet really.
Looking for inspiration to workout, so I should go.
I should know better than to update first day of my period. Ugh.
